Share Resources in a Small Office or Home
With RideWay, small offices and home-based businesses can perform the same Internet communication functions (browsing, email, file transfer) as large organizations. With a PC running Windows 95/NT, a connection to the Internet, and a local area network (LAN), other machines (Windows 95, Macintosh, Windows 3.1, Windows NT) can simultaneously access the Internet.
Access the Internet from Home via the Office LAN
Working at home for the day? Whether you work for a large company with offices around the world, or a small office down the street, RideWay is the ideal tool for accessing the Internet through the office LAN and its existing Internet connection. Why bother with multiple Internet service provider accounts? With RideWay installed on the Windows 95/NT computer at work, employees can dial into that PC to read their email, surf the Internet, and work from home!
Step-by-step instructions for the user who wants to access the Internet by dialing from his or her home Windows 95/NT PC to the Windows 95/NT PC at work.
Ease IP Shortage and Create a Firewall
IP shortage is becoming a known problem in many parts of the world. RideWay can ease this problem. A work place can arrange its network as illustrated above. A Windows 95/NT PC is designated to run RideWay. Two IPs, one public and one private, are assigned to this Windows 95/NT PC. Some of the PCs in the workplace may be assigned with private IPs. Then these client PCs can access the Internet through RideWay.
RideWay also serves as a firewall. It shields the client PCs from potential attacks which are transported via a direct connection from the Internet. Furthermore, it can also prevent the internal PCs from accessing some undesirable web sites on the Internet.
Exploit High Bandwidth Cable Network
Cable companies are stepping into the business of Internet access service by offering cable modem connectivity with up to 300 times the bandwidth available in a regular telephone line!
One can connect multiple PCs to an Ethernet Hub (connected to the cable modem) as depicted above. With this setup, all PCs can access the Internet simultaneously through the Windows 95/NT PC running RideWay. The server PC is the only PC which communicates with the cable modem directly.

Open an Internet Pathway for Friends
If your good friend who is from out-of-town needs to access the Internet to check his/her email or if your neighbor who does not have an Internet account needs to surf the web for some information, you can easily provide them immediate assistance by opening up an Internet pathway through your Windows NT running RideWay with the setup as pictured in the above scenario.
