There is a lot of old software avialable for free download that will work with a 386. Windows 95 will work if you have enough Ram (8 Meg or higher). There are many games that run on a 386 depending on the amount of Ram.
On upgrading your 386 don't try.
It is easier to buy a 486 and install any compponents from your 386 you want to keep.
I say 486 becuase 486's are cheap and can run most programs out today- as well as being easy to upgrade. Also do the upgrade yopurself, its easy. =^)
