Hi there,
I am having some problems with my computer randomly freezing. I am usually very good with computers, however this problem has got me totally baffled.
The system specs are:
AMD 900Mhz
512MB Ram
Leadtek Winfast Geforce II MX Video Card.
Sound Blaster live Sound Card.
I started off using Windows ME, the freezing occured, so I formatted, reinstalled Windows ME and is still occured. Formatted again and installed Win 98. Still froze so I formatted and installed Windows SE.
When the computer freezes, the mouse continues to work. The background of whatever screen it was when the computer froze remains on there, however I cannot click on anything, or press CTRL-ALT-DEL to quit the current application; So if I was surfing a website, the site remains in the background, I can't do anything except move the mouse. The scroll doesn't work, no buttons or anything work on the screen. Links on the website aren't clickable. The mouse is literally the only thing that can move or do anything.
This problem has always happened when on a website, or typing an email. Today it happened in a game I was playing, and CTRL-ALT-DEL allowed me to see what applications where not responding. The game wasn't, and neither was an application called:
Msgsrv32
I searched these forums and came up with problems related to this, however none that answered my questions. I don't even know for sure if this file is the one causing the problems.
Any suggestions you have would help. Any diagnostic software, or anything that can help solve the problem. The shop where I bought it can't figure it out, I can't figure it out, and many of my computer related friends can't. Thanks in advance!
