If you have not done so already, you will need to make a Startup disk to run Extract. Use the following steps:
1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
2. In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs.
3. On the Startup Disk tab, click Create Disk.
Once you have the Startup disk, insert it into your floppy drive and restart the computer.
When prompted, choose option 3 (start computer without CD-Rom support).
Once you get to the DOS prompt, type exactly this:
extract c:\windows\options\cabs\precopy1.cab wsock32.dll /l c:\windows\system
If you already have the file on your system and are replacing it, you will be asked if you want to overwrite it. Type y to do so.
After the file has been extracted and installed, you will be back at the DOS prompt. Remove the floppy disk and press ctrl alt delete to restart.
