This is a strategic move for Big Blue. They learned early in the PC game about costly mistakes this time they want to stay on top of emerging markets. Linux has finally reached a place where it is no longer for just us geeks. It is now a viable business solution, and IBM wants to offer it as part of their available solutions list. This is great for both IBM and the Linux community as a whole. Smart move. As far as the open license goes, IBM won't have a choice. If they want to offer Linux it has to fall under the GNU public license guidelines.
