My amibios was also wiped by Chernobyl. The problem is that you normally need a new bios eeprom, or have someone make a copy for you. If you have the bios data on file (which you can normally get from the manufacturer of the motherboard (if you know who it is...) then you can sometimes reprogram the bios yourself. Some boards have a minimal bios called a Boot Block Feature which allows you to just boot from a floppy disk, using an ISA video card. If this works, and you have the bios and a flash utility, you might be lucky. It didnīt work for me though. There is some good information in this URL for FIC motherboards, at http://www.fic.com.tw/techsupport/faq/faqsbios.htm#bios7

Also there is a good Bios Faq at http://www.ping.be/bios/faq.html

If you donīt know who made your mainboard, try to find out at www.motherboards.org

Good Luck!
