Over time I managed to get Windows 95 to become quite
stable with all the updates that were made available.
Now Win 98 appears to me to be less stable than Win 95
was before the SR-1 release in the early part of 96.
One problem after another has surfaced, not merely on
an update, but also on a clean installation. Both
major crashes (FAT32 conversion completely trashed one
hard drive that had been working perfectly -- even
after Scandisk run from the DOS prompt gave me a
bill of good health on that drive) and minor problems
(clean installation on a brand-new hard drive is
unpredictable -- does very strange things intermittently.
I'm no novice user -- these problems are inexcuseable.
