Hi,
I've been struggling with a major problem with W98 ever since I installed it as a W95 upgrade on both my machinese at home. I occasionally had this same problem on one machine with W95, never have it with Win/NT4.0, and always have it with W98. Namely, W98 loads and locks its environment size to a ridiculouously low value. This means that if you open up more than one DOS box, the second one freezes, and if you go back to the first one, which was working normally, it too is also frozen. I put in a phone call to the MS W98 support/development team, and are aware of this problem. They say that hopefully they will get it fixed, perhaps with a service pack release, but in the meantime, people like me who have to do a lot of work under DOS have been getting really screwed! If any of you have any ideas of how to increase the W98 environment size at load time (which is usually only 1k!), please get back to me with information on how to do this. Thanks, Charlie Shecter
