Linux

The win9x peer to peer network I run at my office has 7 stations plus the one I use at home and connect dialup. We have found the system just isn't solid enough for our liking and that MS Word seems to get less stable with each new version. What MS charges for their software can't be justified by its quality.

Right now I have Linux running at home on a dual boot machine. My first foray into Linux at work will be to add a computer dedicated to print and file serving. Right now those two tasks are done by two of the peer stations. They do that ok but when they have to be rebooted for some reason or other it means every one in the office has to sit on their hands, look at me and wonder if I know what I am doing. I expect to be able to set up that server on a box that is nothing special (i.e. old monitor, if there even is one), bottom of the line pentium with nothing special in the ram and hard drive departments.

Since our main use of the system is for word processing and our own accounting, it has occured to me that moving to Word Perfect could allow us to go to an entirely Linux system. Only thinking about that.
