I suppose you all missed the fact that the serial
number feature can be turned off after the system
boots up.

Now, since this feature reenables itself after each
boot that implies that you have some piece of software
that deactives the serial.

Keeping that in mind, simply put the software that
deactivates the serial in your autoexec.bat and be
done with it.

On the notion of e-commerce (whoever it was that
brought this subject up). You couldn't use the
serial as a method of identifying who is making a
purchase because I could just as easily be using
a friend's computer. All the serial does is track a
specific COMPUTER, not a specific person. Using it
as a means of identifying a person would be guesswork
at best.
