No. This does nothing to change my opinion.
When someone does something like this under pressure, it has no effect on my opinion for quite a while.
My opinion changes only on good evidence of real, voluntary change.
This, naturally, takes time.
OEM's should have been allowed to ship anything they wanted all along.
Gateway was the first I know of to open things up a bit. Let's hope more OEM's end up doing the same.
One thing I look ahead to is the idea that it is up to Gateway (and all the other OEM's) now to not get overly intrusive themselves.
If we know they make a good machine, we don't need to be badgered and bludgeoned to death with the news.
Part of being a good company is not being abusive with the extent of hornblowing.
This has been one of the things that turned me off to Microsoft; the fact that they are so overly intrusive
that one gets so tired of them getting right in your face with how great they are, it becomes more inspiring to
dump MS software and go get your programs from someone else.
