I think you mean libertarianism? If you'd read my
post before hitting reply, you would have noticed
that my recommendations were that "users" take
control of the situation by filtering out unwanted
messages, and hopefully automatically spamming
the spammers with them!
Ensuring a valid header is just good sense. It
falls into the same category as ensuring that
those who estabish themselves in business are
who they say they are - a fundamental priniciple
for enabling any peoples to trade goods and
services, and mutually benefit from that trade.
The internet is now a medium for conducting
business, and for business to flourish there
needs to be a framework in which honest
business, that fulfills a demand, and provides
a competitive service, can prosper.
The internet is a microcosm of human civilisation,
and a civilisation that chooses to disregard any
common rules, either enforced or agreed by
mutual consent, collapses into anarchy and
acquiesces the right to call itself civilised.
It is the failure of the internet community, of
mail system administrators, of greedy and/or
lazy ISPs, and of uneducated or overly
tolerant netizens - that has enabled "Uncle
Sam" to assume its unfortunately needed role.
As to your simplistic, populist "libertarian",
cries, these should be seen for what they are:
an opening of one's mouth, and a rumbling
of one's belly.
