Earthlink Offers E-Mail By Phoneby Dave MurphyISSN 1535-3613
The additional fee is $4.95 a month, and unread e-mail messages still in the user's Earthlink mailbox will be available to be read aurally by an automated voice reader. The E-mail-By-Phone service uses technology from AudioPoint and revenue service provider Erogo.
Dave's OpinionI'm not sure this is a better mousetrap. First of all, I get dozens, sometimes hundreds, of e-mail messages a day. I dislike listening to my telephone voice mail with only a few messages recorded, I certainly wouldn't want to listen to a hundred or more e-mail messages through my cell phone. Well, maybe Earthlink isn't targeting this service to me, maybe it's best used by people who receive only a few e-mail messages a day. What's your take on this service? Would you use it?
