DOD Upgrades To StarOfficeOpen-source application suite without a license fee
U.S. Department of Defense Uses StarOfficeby Dave MurphyISSN 1535-3613
Not only is StarOffice great software, it's free. DISA won't pay a cent because there's no licensing fee for the application suite.
Dave's OpinionI'm glad DISA selected Sun's StarOffice over the other competing application suites. It's a great product and it's available for multiple platforms.I can't wait to tell my wife about this at dinner. She's at Sun's training center this week increasing her knowledge of network system security. Each time she attends a Sun training seminar she comments about how great Sun's training facilities are and the instructional expertise of the trainers. I guess the old adage is true for Sun, if you live a good life, do good work, and treat people nicely, in the end you'll come out on top.
