New Software Instantly Creates Websites and Hyperlinks

by Dave Murphy
ISSN 1535-3613

Dave Murphy, DGL President & ITrain founder BrowseUp has launched a beta version of its flagship product that fulfills the original vision of the world wide web, according to the Jerusalem-based company.

BrowseUp's CTO, Nir Melamoud says "Everyone can make links from pictures, pieces of text or from site to site. It is a collaborative tool."

The Internet Explorer 5.0 plug-in adds a new toolbar button. The button offers users options to add a link to a relevant site by highlighting a specific word, an image, or the entire page and using drag & drop to open another browser window.

A pop-up window creates a one- or two-way link, and the user can add keywords to help others by indexing the site. Other BrowseUp users who visit the page can click on "show links" and view all those links that have been added.

This sounds like what I thought the web should be. Billions of minds sharing data and creating useful information.

I'm sure the copyright lawyers will have a field day with some of the offensive applications BrowseUp will enable, but the details will get worked out. Global information creation and dissemination. What a thought.
