Million Geek March

by Dave Murphy
ISSN 1535-3613

Dave Murphy, DGL President & ITrain founder Join the fight for freedom!

If you're a geek and upset over the recently-passed bill HR 1291, then get out your marching sandals and hike along with an estimated 25,000 other geeks and Internet telephony supporters. June 11th is the date. Noon to 4:00 P.M. is the time. Washington, DC is the place.

First there was the Million Man March, then the Million Mom March. Pull out your pocket protectors for the Million Geek March.

Officially the event is called the Internet Freedom Rally, not the Million Geek March, but hey, I think the latter is a much cooler name.

The Internet Freedom Rally organizers have arranged for the Voices of Classic Rock to perform at the event. So even if you don't know much about HR 1291 and the loss of your privacy, at least you can get rocked and burned.

Why this rally?
To protest the recently passed house bill HR 1291 which frees the Internet at large from regulation, but allows the FCC to regulate Internet telephony. This is important to you, not only because there may soon be no such thing as a free phone call, but also because your ISP may begin monitoring your Internet connection for voice traffic in order to charge you properly. The Internet Freedom Rally is both promoting privacy on the Internet and attempting to keep Internet telephony free!

Where:
West Capital Area
Washington DC, USA

When:
12:00 Noon - 4:00 PM (EST)
