Corel goes for the desktop
Corel Announces Linux Release
"DOS had ten years, Windows has had the last ten years, and now it's time for Linux," said Michael Cowpland, president and chief executive officer of Corel. Three versions of Corel Linux were announced today:
"Today, Corel Linux is as easy to use as Windows," Cowpland said, noting that Corel's booth features six applications running on Linux, including WordPerfect, Quattro Pro - the spreadsheet, Paradox - the database management application, and Presentations-the graphic presentation software. Many system administrators to whom I speak are concerned with Windows NT's use of system resources and it's tendency to crash and require rebooting. In my experience, Linux doesn't have this problem, and it's a stable file and webserver.
