Computer Learning Manuals Available Online
Damar Group, Ltd. has made computer learning texts available electronically using Adobe Systems' Acrobat(tm) 2.0 software.
Damar Group, Ltd. (DGL) Electrobook(tm) publications are available for sale and online delivery through a WWW front end and via FTP to millions of Internet users around the world at WWW address http://dgl.com/ and FTP address: ftp.dgl.com/pub/damar/.< BR>
"We're very excited to offer our learning texts to the world," said David S. Murphy, President & CEO of DGL. He went on "The
Adobe Acrobat product creates a downloadable format file that allows any DOS, Windows, Macintosh, and UNIX user to access our
material."
The electrobook(tm) publications follow DGL's success in instructor-led training programs and hard copy publication of the
learning materials and are a natural evolution of the publishing process. "The mission of our Internet effort is to engage all
people in a learning process that leads to greater productive literacy," said Mr. Murphy.
DGL's World Wide Web site allows all Internet users to review a book's outline prior to requesting the download, and currently
Electrobooks(tm) may be downloaded for viewing offline, prior to purchase. Following receipt of the purchase fee, a password
will be supplied to allow the Electrobook to be printed on any printer: dot matrix, ink jet, or laser. If a color printer is
available, the publications include printable color graphics.
The publications were converted using Adobe Distiller software and are served to the Internet by Softaid Internet Services,
Inc., the premier Internet access provider.
The first Electrobook(tm) text, Windows 3.11, Level 1, went online Sunday, July 31, 1995. It will be quickly followed by HTML
Authoring guides, including an Advanced HTML & WWW Publishing guide. "Of the 75 recently published training guides, our
schedule is to have our publications online before the end of August," Mr. Murphy said.
In addition to the Electrobook(tm) format, DGL will offer computer learning materials in an HTML (HyperText Markup Language)
format that may be accessed online at the DGL WWW site, http://dgl.com/.
Damar Group, Ltd. is a privately-held Maryland corporation controlling computer training and publishing arms. It was
established in 1989.
