Microsoft Access To Receive Performance Boost
by Dave Murphy
ISSN 1535-3613

Dave Murphy, DGL President & ITrain founder In the upcoming release of Microsoft Office 2000, Access, the popular database management system will receive a significant performance boost. New functionality will allow Access databases to scale up to work with Microsoft's SQL Server 7.0, the high-end database tool.

The new version of Access ships in Office 2000, there will be two alternatives for the Access data engine. One will be Jet, the existing native storage environment for Access, and the other option will be a new offering -- the Microsoft Data Engine (MSDE).
