Microsoft Pulls Office 97 SR-2
An corrected version of the Office 97 SR-2 (Service Release 2) will be available on CD and on the Microsoft website shortly. The Redmond software giant confirmed situations in which the Office 97 SR-2 patch will fail to properly install. The SR-2 removal comes just a few days after an advisory was posted by the bug-finding group BugNet. Although Microsoft originally disputed the BugNet advisory because of what it considered a lack of detailed information, the company said that after testing the patch over time it did discover some problems. Although, many users of the most recent versions of Office 97 may have no problems installing SR-2, all users should wait until the "updated" update is available.
