MS Office To Fully Support HTML
by Dave Murphy
ISSN 1535-3613
Microsoft's next version of Office will support HTML as a file format along with it's own proprietary file format. Using eXtensible Markup Language (XML), MS Office will allow users to retain formatting
commands while saving documents in HTML format. A formal announcement will be made by Microsoft on Monday.
Microsoft's many file formats are a tough hurdle for corporate environments in which multiple versions of MS Office products are used.
The use of HTML as a cross-platform file structure will not only solve the technical difficulties associated with sharing documents amongst different MS products, but also allow users to more easily create webpages for their corporate intranets.
