Next month McAfeee will release its TVD (Total Virus Defense) Suite. Designed for Internet servers and gateways, the protection will monitor network activity and distribute software updates from a central server. Using McAfee's BackWeb Technologies Inc. push channel, the TVD Enterprise Console monitors activity and allows system administrators to distribute updates such as virus protection to end users in less time than previously required. The Enterprise Console updates both 16-bit and 32-bit desktops and runs with NetWare and Windows NT Server 4.0. Alerts can be sent through both OpenView and Unicenter. TVD, starts at $23 per user for a 1,000-user license, and it includes desktop applications that provide protection from infected floppy disks, boot sector viruses, email virii, and virii carried in from hostile Java or ActiveX applets which may come from the Internet. The suite will supports Notes groupware and Exchange. McAfee can be reached at www.mcafee.com.
