Company executives said a final version of the product will be available in stores by the end of October(est. retail $149; $55 for upgrades). The number of FrontPage 97 users exceeds 1 million, said Pat Kirtland, group product manager. He said he expected about 1 million people to try the beta version of the product, which will be available free over the Internet but expires automatically at the end of December 1997. He said users who want a simple way to create webpages account for about 35 percent of the FrontPage customer base. Another 35 percent are full-time professionals. The remaining 30 percent are hobbyists. New features include design themes to that can be applied to all or part of a website, an electronic "white board" to create webpages, and automatic hyperlink updates.
