Dave Murphy, DGL President & ITrain founder Corel has released a beta of CorelCentral, an information manager and email application that adds much-needed functionality to its popular productivity software suite.

CorelCentral 8 includes a calendar, address book, card file, activity log and help desk. The email application is licensed from Netscape, and Communicator is now embedded in the software suite.

Information management functionality is integrated into the standard and professional editions of Corel WordPerfect Suite 8, which is scheduled for summer 97 release. The suite includes WordPerfect 8 for word processing, Quattro Pro 8 for spreadsheets and Presentations 8 for presentation graphics.

"The information management helps complete our suite," said Drew Daniels, marketing development manager for CorelCentral. "And Netscape provides a technology we would never develop ourselves, like email and conferencing tools."
