PC Medic 97 and NetMedic 97
The utilities diagnose, repair, and prevent common Windows 95 problems. NetMedic is a networked version of PC Medic. It integrates with McAfee Service Desk help desk and SaberLAN Workstation. PC Medic and NetMedic provide protection against general protection faults and stack overflows. The Crash Monitor feature intercepts crash-causing 16- and 32-bit system events, allowing users to save their work before exiting. Users can also revive frozen applications and save work that would otherwise be lost. PC Medic and NetMedic automate system backups. The products' QuickBackup feature gives users simple point-and-click backups to most industry standard tape drives, Zip and Jaz drives, rewritable CDs, or the Internet. QuickBackup allows users to back up data files to any FTP site, including McAfee's electronic vaulting service, the McAfee Personal Vault. Customers can download PC Medic from McAfee's Web site for a free 30-day evaluation. Downloaded versions are identical to shrink-wrapped versions and contain no time bombs, according to the company.
